Intensive Arabic Semester

The Intensive Arabic Semester is a five month program that runs twice a year; in August and January. Our upcoming semester runs from August 4th 2013 to January 3th 2014. All skill levels are welcome.

You will learn 500 hours of spoken and standard Arabic at Givat Haviva- a leading institute in Israel for studying Arabic and the recipient of UNESCO prize for peace education.  You will practice your Arabic with an Arab host family and fully immerse yourself in the language and culture, by volunteering and interacting with the local Arab community in the city of Baqa Al-Gharbiyye.

In addition, you will take courses in Middle Eastern Studies, Israeli & Jewish Studies, learn Hebrew and go on field trips throughout the country, experiencing first hand the rich history, natural beauty, and intricate cultural issues that exist in Israel. You will reside in the pastoral setting of Kibbutz Barkai, located between Tel Aviv and Haifa, and will have a host family on the Kibbutz as well.
