Givat Haviva is the sponsoring organization for the Intensive Arabic Semester program. The Givat Haviva Institute, founded by the HaShomer HaTzair Movement, is the recipient of UNESCO prize for peace education. Givat Haviva's educational projects and programs promote the values of equality and human dignity between Jews and Arabs living in Israel. In addition, Givat Haviva fulfills the mission of the Movement in the field of Holocaust study and the heritage of the youth movements, through research and educational activities.
Since the 1990's, Givat Haviva has developed programs pertaining to different components of Israeli society. Participants of these programs have been from Israel, the United States, Canada, Britain as well as Spanish-speaking countries. In addition, Givat Haviva has conducted in-depth study tours of the country, facilitated one-on-one meetings with both Arab and Jewish citizens of the State, and hosted journalists and universities and colleges from North America and Europe.
Givat Haviva is located North of Tel Aviv and South of Haifa in the Wadi Ara Region (also called the Nahal Iron). The Wadi Ara is a 20 km valley that connects the Israeli coastal plain with the Jezreel valley. Since Kibbutz Barkai is located in the center of Israel, our students are able to travel to Haifa, Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, and plenty of other Israeli destinations.
