Participants in the intensive Arabic Semester will also have 75 hours of studies devoted to learning Modern Hebrew (spoken and written). The Israeli system of teaching Hebrew is recognized by language schools throughout the world in terms of its success in imparting the ability to converse freely in a relatively short amount of time. Hebrew lessons take place during the first month of the program. We find that this allows our students to be prepared early on to communicate with their Hebrew-speaking neighbors. After Hebrew lessons have finished, many of our students have continued to study on their own or with a kibbutz member.
